It was a “me” kind of weekend around here.
We declared a “me” day for the boys on Saturday. No one had to leave the house if they didn’t want to. They got to choose all of the activities of the day.
They planned out their day based on all of the activities that they enjoy. They played Wii for as long as they wanted. They played their DS’s that just came out of time out. They ran around outside. They colored pictures. They chose their meals.
There wasn’t a lot of fighting. There was a lot of laughing and giggling. There was fun. There was chaos. It was wonderful and crazy and loads of good times.
And it got to carry into Sunday.
Eli’s teacher had sent home a newsletter that said she was taking her family to see the Lorax this weekend and wanted to invite the entire class to meet her there to watch the movie together. They boys had both been asking to see that movie and had saved up their good behavior “dollars”. So away we went today.
For anyone who hasn’t seen it I highly recommend it. Lots of singing and dancing in true Seuss style. An awesome movie with a profound message. If you’re a fan of the book you have to see it.
We came home and headed straight outside. We gathered sticks and started a fire in the pit. We cleaned the yard and got out the human gerbil ball. We played soccer and football and ran and laughed and played. We grilled hot dogs and potatoes.
It was a lovely spring day thrown into the beginning of March!
We got some much-needed relaxation this weekend. Thank you Mother Nature for giving us such a gorgeous day to help get us good and worn out so the time change didn’t affect us!
