Vitamin D Effects

Something appeared today in the sky.

A bright orange circle against a canvas of light blue.

And suddenly a smile came across my face and a calm gathered around my boys.

We went out for breakfast, something we do about once a month.

The boys woke me so nicely, with hugs and kisses and sweet talk.  They knew it was IHOP morning and they were itching for some smiley face pancakes.  We all quickly dressed and headed out.

We ate in relative calm – breakfast with two boys is NEVER completely calm.  The food was gone and the bellys were full so off we went.

On the way home we made an impromptu stop at the park near our house.  I just couldn’t bear to go back into the house just yet.  After what feels like months of rain, I needed to be outside and take in the sun and the breeze.

The boys played on the climber for awhile and then brightly eyed the giant mounds of dirt – the mountains that screamed to be conquered.  So, exploring we went.  We looked for “diamonds”, we scaled cliffs, we delved into deep, dark crevasses.  We returned to the playground to find frogs climbing the playground structure.  Boys couldn’t ask for anything more!

We returned home for snacks and some quiet time – being in the sun can make wear you out a bit!  Then off to Keegan’s final soccer game of the season.

He was amazing.  He was hot, tired and ready to quit at each water break.  But he kept going and played in a way that told me he truly loves the game.  It was so exciting!  And what better way to follow up a hot and happening soccer game than with ICE CREAM!!!!
After ice cream I just couldn’t contain myself.  We took off to the local market and bought a bunch of herbs and flowers.  I came home and planted with my boys.  We dug in the dirt, we watered and got wet, we had a blast!
At the end of the day the stress was better.  Mostly gone.  And in it’s place was some vitamin D goodness.  A little sun goes a long way!

About Brotherly Love

I am a mom, partner, teacher and a lover of life. I have two fabulous boys who define my life as I know it. One of my children has been diagnosed with a sensory processing disorder, Asperger's and anxiety disorder. I blog as much about him as I do about my life and the lives of my immediate family.
